AXA calls upon all residents to show the UK they have community spirit

AXA Home Insurance is on the hunt to find the UK’s best community and is calling on communities across the country to stand up and be proud.

Entries into AXA's Community Challenge competition will be in with a chance to win a state of the art digital camera, just for entering, but more importantly turn a future local project into a reality.

At a time when there are reports of a lack of community spirit, AXA Home Insurance wants to prove otherwise and highlight the strong, supportive and active communities there are across the UK.

With the support of Neighbourhood Watch, the UK-wide community association, AXA's Community Challenge competition hope to find the best community in Britain, with regional winners and an overall national champion announced later this year. To recognise such achievements, each regional winner will receive an award plaque for their community and the nationally crowned Number One British Community will receive a boost to a local initiative with a chance to receive both monetary and man power support from AXA to help make their community dream a reality.

Communities can enter AXA Home Insurance's Community Challenge until 31 August 2010 with AXA and Neighbourhood Watch announcing the best UK community in October 2010. Communities will be evaluated based on criteria such as the most neighbourly, the safest, or the cleanest.  All entries, which are supported by a photo showcasing the community's success, will be automatically entered in to a prize draw. The best submitted photo in each region will be awarded a state of the art digital camera.

Communities can enter their local area into the competition by downloading a PDF form from www.axa.co.uk and www.neighbourhoodwatch.net and return by email to axa@community-challenge.org.uk or post to AXA Community Challenge, PO Box 64189, London WC1A 9EJ by the closing date. Submitting photos to support applications is encouraged.

The best community in each UK region and an overall winner will be chosen by a panel and announced in early October.  More information on AXA's Community Challenge can be found at www.axa.co.uk.
