Police urge residents to set up Neighbourhood Watch schemes

HAVERHILL Police have called for residents to set up Neighbourhood Watch Schemes before they are victims of crime.

There are currently 52 Neighbourhood Watch schemes across Haverhill, but there are not many in the Clements, Parkway and Chimswell estates.
Pc Rupert Beynon, of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), said: "These tend to be set up after an incident, often by the victims of crime.
"If you can set one up before a crime happens it's better. People shouldn't wait until a crime has happened.
"There is usually at least one person on every street who will be there and they can help us to run this scheme.
"We particularly need more around Clements and Parkway because we haven't got many there and we have a lot of people on these estates, and obviously more people means more crime."
